This 8-week support group is designed for women seeking to improve their self-esteem, develop assertiveness, and cultivate empowerment. Through a combination of education, group discussions, reflective exercises and supportive interactions, you’ll find a compassionate space to nurture your personal growth.
This group is intended for adults (19+) who self-identify as women and:
- Struggle with assertiveness, setting boundaries, and prioritizing their own needs
- Are looking for strategies to overcome negative self-talk and improve their self-esteem
- Seek empowerment and validation in a supportive environment amidst societal pressures or discrimination based on gender, race, sexuality, or other factors
- Are committed to personal growth and are open to engaging in activities and discussions aimed at fostering empowerment and self-discovery

Finding your voice and prioritizing your needs
Each week introduces a new theme, from goal setting and self-identity exploration to developing resilience and creating a personal empowerment plan. Participants will engage in reflective exercises, learn cognitive-behavioral techniques to challenge limiting beliefs, and explore self-care practices, all within a supportive environment aimed at fostering personal growth and empowerment.
Common Questions
Support groups are made up of people who share common challenges. These groups are focused on providing education, resources and tools, with the overall goal of helping you to cope. They provide a safe place for you to express your thoughts and feelings, and to share your experiences if you feel comfortable. Groups often provide reassurance and encouragement. There’s something truly unique about surrounding yourself with others who are experiencing similar challenges as you. Group members often walk away feeling stronger, more capable and hopeful about managing the difficulties that brought them to the group.
Our groups typically range anywhere from 5 to 12 people.
Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be a current client in order to join any of the groups we offer.
Confidentiality is of the utmost importance and is part of the ground rules for attending a group program. Everything said before, during and after group sessions is considered confidential and all members are required to sign and agree to this.
All of our group programs occur on a private and confidential video conferencing service that has an encrypted connection and is both PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) compliant. You will receive a link by e-mail to access the sessions.
Every group member is expected to attend the full 8-week program, but we do understand that unforeseen events can occur. If you are going to be absent for any session, we ask that you please inform the facilitator(s).

Introduction and Goal Setting
- Introduction to the key concepts of empowerment
- Exploration of personal goals and aspirations
Week Two
Self-Discovery and Identity
- Discussion on societal influences on women's self-perception
- Reflective exercises to explore personal values, strengths, and identity
- Introduction to self-compassion
Week Three
Overcoming Limiting Beliefs
- Identifying and challenging negative self-talk and limiting beliefs using Cognitive- Behavioral techniques
- Support with reframing perspectives
Week Four
Communication and Boundary Setting
- Review of different communication styles
- Learning about boundary setting
Week Five
Empowering Relationships
- Exploring relationships, boundary setting in relationships and advocating for one's needs
Week Six
Self-Esteem and Self-Care
- Discussion on societal standards and the impact on self-esteem
- Exploration of self-care practices and their importance in maintaining emotional well- being
Week Seven
Building Resilience
- Discussion on resilience and the power of perseverance
- Strategies for coping with setbacks and adversity
- Mindfulness and relaxation techniques to manage stress and strengthen resilience
Week Eight
Celebration and Integration
- Reflection and celebration of achievements and milestones on personal growth throughout the group process
- Development of a personal empowerment plan for continued growth
